Jessie Davis

In sweet peace, our beloved Jessie Rea Drye Davis, transitioned to eternal rest, Monday, January 19, 2026, while a patient at Atrium Health, Concord, North Carolina. She was born November 16, 1942, in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the daughter of Robert Lee and Eloise Pergee Drye. We never lose the ones we love, for their memories live in our hearts forever. Until we meet again, may our loved one soar with the angels and rest in our Father’s care.

She received her formal education in the Stanly County Public Schools and attended Kingville High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. Jessie was employed in the textile industry for many years.

At an early age, Jessie joined First Baptist Church, New London, North Carolina. There she and her family were dedicated members. Jessie was a woman of faith who praised the Lord and enjoyed reading her Bible.

She was an excellent cook and was known for baking delectable pies and cakes. Other sources of enjoyment included solving crossword puzzles and watching soap operas. Spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, was one of her greatest joys.

She was married to Larry Davis Sr. for over fifty years before his death in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Mary Frances Edwards, Grace Simon, Helen Lilly, Avonia Lilly, Eddie Drye, and Edwin Drye.

A life well-lived and loved will be forever cherished by her son, Larry Davis Jr. and his wife, Kisha; daughters: Teresa Davis and Jessica Davis; grandchildren: Christopher, Alexis, Farron, Raven and Elijah; great grandchildren; sisters: Juanita (William) Hearne, Christine (Reverend Willie) Cagle, Dorothy Watts, Bertha Blanding, Montesse (Harry) Craig, Barbara Drye, Janet Butler, Lora Clark, Joyce (Aaron) Wright, and Rhonda Tyson; brothers: Robert (Denise) Drye Jr., Felix (Doretha) Drye, and Avesta (Brenda) Lilly; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
